Bruce Rodrigues, the 15-year old schoolboy prodigy, scored two hat-tricks in two consecutive matches in the Mariam Memorial Football Tournament being played at the CDGK (formerly KMC) stadium. The Grammarian striker, who plays for Laurentian FC, displayed agility to score three scintillating goals against ABU Sports in the second round match; and in last Sunday’s quarter final encounter against Victoria FC, Bruce produced another match-winning performance to net three more goals, including a stunning header. Laurentian FC will play Pak Gujrat in the semis. The Laurentian FC practices at the KMC stadium under the watchful eyes of former Pakistan coach Ahmed Jan and Laurentian FC captain/coach Khayyam Juma. Officials of the tournament have hailed the skills and talents of Bruce and his fellow wingers Calvin Alburquerque and Moses Indrias. Earlier this year, Bruce helped his school win the Inter-Schools Football tournament where he also scored five goals, including a hat-trick in the quarter-finals. The youngster has had his basic football training at the Man United Soccer School in England.
