The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Monday established the Faiz Chair at its Iqbaliat Department. The objective of this chair was to organise conferences and seminars at national and international levels to propagate research on Faiz Ahmed Faiz and create valuable literature on his personality. A comprehensive documentary film on Faiz will also be prepared under umbrella of this chair and all available literature on him will also be gathered.
Dr Shahid Iqbal Kamran has been selected as the chairman for the chair. AIOU Vice-Chancellor Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi approved Director General Khalid Iqbal Yasir (Urdu Science Board) as a member for the National Advisory Council of the Faiz Chair. Other members are Saleema Hashmi, Dr Anwar Ahmed, Dr Shah Muhammad Murree, Dr Robina Tareen, Agha Saleem and Behra Mand Khan Durrani.
