The combined entry test for undergraduate admissions in the engineering universities of Punjab was conducted by the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) on September 11. The engineering admission test, which was cancelled last month because the question paper was leaked, was held at the UET Lahore, the UET Taxilla, Bahauddin Zakriya Engineering College Multan, Islamia University Bahawalpur, NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research Faisalabad, University of Gujrat, Siddeeq Public School Rawalpindi, NED University of Engineering and Tehnology Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar and Serena Hotel Quetta. Approximately 41,000 candidates were expected to appear for the admission test but about 10 to 15% students could not qualify.
The UET Vice-Chancellor, Akram Khan said that according to the candidates it was a fair examination and was not very hard. The exam was formulated according to latest assessment techniques which would be improved in future, he added. The test was conducted fairly and peacefully and no unfairness or cheating was reported. Special measures were taken to ensure fairness and transparency. The results for the test will be declared on September 18.
