Power outage schedules vary across Lahore

Some areas faced five to seven hours of power shutdowns in Lahore while others received continuous electricity supply on Sunday. Although power cut had been minimal during the last three days, many areas like Township, Green Town, Johar Town, Faisal Town, Kot Lakhpat and Wahdat Road witnessed continuous shutdowns on Saturday night while areas such as Mughalpura, Baghbanpura and Cantonment received uninterrupted electricity supply. Consumers were surprised at the electricity schedules. “Our power was closed twice in the night for one hour and electricity shutdowns remained high on Sunday but my cousin in the Cantonment area said there was no power outage on their side,” said a consumer Rizwan Ahmed, resident of Township. According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), power shortfall on Saturday remained 3,184 megawatt, as power generation was 14,312MW while demand surged to 17,496MW.
