West Indies women finally marked a successful series triumph after earning a one-over eliminator win during the 4th and final Twenty20 match against Pakistani women on Sunday at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. Although the fixture did not feature any exceptional performances, it remained to be a thriller right till the final delivery of the bout, resulting in a tie, and then the one over eliminator, which eventually turned it in the hosts’ favour. Pakistan skipper Sana Mir was disappointed after losing an opportunity to secure victory.
Having lost the opening One Day International (ODI) leg of the tour, Pakistan went on to lose the final part of the visit as well, handing over a complete win to the Caribbean hosts. As for the recent bout, being forced into batting first by the Windies skipper, Merrisa Aguilleira, Pakistan failed to come up to the challenge, struggling from the initial moments of the match. The tourists went on to suffer consistent blows at the line-up, as West Indies bowlers came out hard, crumbling down the roster right till the ninth-wicket by the close of the 20th over. Exhibiting a poor display with the bat, the Green Caps eventually had their wrapped, offering an easy 72-run chase for the hosts. However, the Caribbean ladies did not get the start they would have liked as the Pakistani women put up a fight. The Windies lost some important wickets in the initial overs of the innings as well, sharing a fate similar to the tourists. The West Indies women lost all their batters with the scores tied; however, fortunately for them, they secured a last-minute triumph by succeeding in the one-over eliminator. With this win, the Windies have secured the 4-match T20 series as well. Earlier, the Caribbean women defeated their Pakistani counterparts in the 4-match ODI series 3-1.
