The Islamabad High Court on Monday issued notices to respondents in a petition challenging the appointment of the President of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). A single bench comprising Justice Anwar Kasi heard a petition filed by a citizen against the appointment of NBP President Qamar Hussain. The petitioner challenged the appointment saying it was made without Qamar passing the prerequisite test. Making the NBP president, chairman and finance secretary respondents, the plaintiff further submitted that Qamar was appointed without acquiring a clearance certificate from the State bank. The petitioner asked the court to declare Qamar’s appointment void as he was not illegible for the said post. After hearing arguments from the petitioner’s lawyer, the court issued notices to respondents for submitting their replies and fixed the next hearing for next week.
