Pakistani and American staff members of the US Embassy commemorated the tenth anniversary of September 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre in the United States. Chargé d’Affaires Richard Hoagland read President Barack Obama’s 9/11 memorial proclamation.
He invoked a moment of silence in memory of those killed on 9/11 and those who fell prey to terrorism after that in countries around the world, including Pakistan. The participants placed flowers at the base of the flagpole that stands on the Embassy grounds.
In his message, President Obama said, “We remember that 9/11 was not only an attack on the United States but also on the world and on the humanity and hopes that we share. On this 10th anniversary, we are united with our friends and partners in remembering all those we have lost in this struggle. In their memory, we reaffirm the spirit of partnership and mutual respect that we need to realize a world where all people live in dignity, freedom and peace.”
