Reconciliatory politics is legacy of ZAB, Benazir, says Badr

Pakistan People’s Party Secretary General Jahangir Badr on Saturday said his party would continue its reconciliatory politics in light of the ideas of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
Addressing a seminar organised by Baba-e-Socialism Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad Foundation in Alhamra to pay homage to ZAB’s close aide and PPP pioneer Sheikh Rasheed, he said the PPP owed tribute to workers and leaders like Rasheed due to which it could counter four dictatorships and survived as a popular mass party. Badr said Sheikh Rasheed had been a loyal and trustworthy companion to Bhutto.
Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad’s son Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmad hosted the ceremony, while Sheikh Rasheed’s personal secretary Syed Baqir Ali Shah, his friends, companions and several PPP workers addressed the ceremony. Among the main speakers, former minister Khurshid Kasuri, Farukh Sohail Gowindi, Aslam Gurdhaspuri, Dr Zia Ullah Khan Bangash and PPP CEC member Qazi Sultan Mahmood were prominent. The seminar also passed a resolution expressing confidence in the current PPP Co-chairman, Asif Zardari.
