Peace has been restored to rural Balochistan: Malik

Peace has been established in Balochistan province’s rural areas, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Saturday.
Speaking to media upon arrival at Quetta airport, Malik said a conspiracy had been hatched to destabilise Pakistan and unity would be required against it. He said militants were also targeting women and children, though authorities were acting against them using full force. He said foreign powers were trying to destabilize Balochistan, however, he refused to share his sources claiming, “I do not share information without solid intelligence backing.”
He said Quetta had been targeted after rural Balochistan had been subdued. He said several banned outfits including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LJ) were active in Balochistan. He said there was credible evidence that these organisations were linked with Jandullah and other organisations. He said action would be taken against the terrorists in Balochistan.
He appreciated the provincial government’s counter terrorism measures and said all those arrested under terrorism charges would be brought before the public. He said the PM had issued directives to end the sense of deprivation felt by Baloch.
