Islamabad-based businessman Raja Jahangir Akhtar has announced that he will be going on a hunger strike until death starting today in a protest against rampant corruption within the government.
The 68-year-old will start his fast at 4:30 pm to press the government to introduce a bill in the parliament against corruption and to cut the budget of the armed forces.
He said his protest was aimed at wiping out corruption from the country. Akhtar said he would be the Anna Hazare of Pakistan, even though he had announced his decision to go on strike before Anna went on strike, but had postponed the programme due to Ramadan.
Being a kidney patient, Akhtar will not desist from drinking water during his protest. Akhtar has been struggling for the past 48 years to express his views on the economic situation of Pakistan and has had to face imprisonment for his candid views.
He expressed hope that his strike would draw the attention from the media, common public, MP’s and anyone else convinced of the necessity of an anti-corruption bill being introduced in the National Assembly, and funds being directed away from the military budget and towards tackling issues that affected the population, like the nation’s derelict power sector.

  1. We should stand for Pakistan its our country why we are waiting. We are with you Raja sahib.Allah bless you.

  2. If we safe our country we should support that type of people and join with him.
Don't criticise the poleticians and system because we belong from that system and it is our duty to do something for our country or nation………………………………..

  3. People of PAKISTAN sick and tired of the corruption.Right now look like whole country's sytem fail because of this corrupt MAFIA.Sopport MR.RAJA

  4. My beloved brother raja, i will speak to you the same way I would speak to my father. Please do not hurt yourself because of the curroption of beasts and daemons like zardari and his henchmen. These people do not care about the starvation of 20 million people in the country subsequent to the floods, what makes you think they will care about you? Yes, the public cares about men like you, but they are already in the streets demanding the things which you demand (masha'Allah). My dearest brother, please do not do this. Instead, recognize, that in the Islamic movements of the country (united by one vision), there is hope of re-establishing a just caliphate, which does not tolerate curroption. Yes, we were taught to hate the taliban, but can we honestly criticize any of their policies, can we really not see the genuineness of their Islamic practices, the fact that they employed zero corruption wherever they are, and can we deny their gallant and valliant resistence to western occupation and eastern curroption?

  5. Let us join and support these men, and create movements of our own if we like which are on the same line. Islam or nothing. Khilafah or nothing. Shariah or nothing. Justice or nothing. Obliterate poverty from this dunya oh Muslimeen! Free our daughter Aafia oh Muslimeen! Rescue her son Suleyman immediately oh Muslimeen! Free all the daughters of the ummah in prison in pakistan and elsewhere oh Muslimeen! Free the children and women of the bravest of the brave, our sheikh, Usama Bin Laden (if indeed what happen in abbotabad was true, which i doubt).

  6. Well! It is not Anna Hazare or Raja Jahangir which matters. It actually is the nation/people of the country who stand behind such people and provide undaunted/ fearless support. If the people did not do it no Anna Hazare will emerge in Pakistan. I wonder if only one Anna Hazare will suffice to protest against corruption which is so rampant in our country that even the piousest of the political leaders reamin doubtful.
