More troops on Afghan border on cards

In order to prevent movement of insurgents from Afghanistan, the government has decided to deploy additional troops along with the Pak-Afghan border, said Mahmood Aslam Wazir, the district coordination officer, on Sunday.
Talking to a group of local journalists at his residence, the senior government official said that the government had established its writ in the district after a successful military operation in Maidan and Adenzai.
He pointed out that the civil administration could perform its duties without any threat as there was no any no-go area in the Lower Dir. He said that anti-polio campaign was being successfully continuing in the district. An official order has been issued under which strict action would be taken against parents who would oppose the anti-polio campaign.
About the damaged government infrastructure due to militancy in the past, he said that work on more than 100 government schools and six bridges was underway and this work would be completed in the next three months. Despite militancy and poverty, the district got fourth position in literacy this year throughout the province.
