The Liaqat Bagh Model Bazaar, constructed at a cost of more than Rs 27 million, has completely failed to attract customers because of the negligence of the district administration.
The bazaar was established on directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. It is said that receipts are not being given to the stallholders while no publicity campaign has been launched to promote the initiative. Furthermore, salaries have not been paid to the employees for last one month.
Talking to this news agency, they said they were not paid salaries on the eve of Eidul Fitr, although all government servants, both at federal and provincial levels, received their salaries before the annual festival. They demanded the authorities concerned to release their dues.
