Ayaz Amir to resign if rape allegations proven

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Member National Assembly (MNA) from Chakwal Ayaz Amir announced he would resign if rape allegations against him prove true. Addressing a press conference in the Lahore Press Club on Saturday, he said the rape accusation was a conspiracy engineered by PML-Q.
Ayaz claimed he was not present in Chakwal on May 22, the date he was alleged to have raped Tabassum Farooq at 5 pm in the evening. He said he was in Lahore from May 20 to May 22 and no witness or medical reports could support the allegations. He said he had been using the same mobile number for a long time and call records showed all calls had been made from Lahore during the three days.
He said he left Chakwal on May 20 and attended a meeting on May 21 with Chief Minister in his residence at Model Town and remained in Lahore on May 22. He said the complainant had a prior record of false rape charges. He said the accuser’s lawyers belonged to the PML-Q. He also said there was no witness the complainant had entered his home on May 22.
