The Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh has termed September 9 “another May 12 for the media”. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed said all channels were being made hostage just like the people of Karachi were on May 12, 2007. He said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain was accusing other parties to divert people’s attention from serious allegation leveled against him.
Syed appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan that the May 12 incident be included in the hearing of the case on targeted killings in Karachi. He said Altaf’s allegation on Asfandyar Wali was baseless as he had no proof. “Altaf Hussain is involved in the murder of Dr Imran Farooq but we have no evidence in this regard. However, international agencies do have it against those who want to break Pakistan.”
Syed said in its three press conferences, the MQM had failed to clarify the allegations of killings of Pashtuns in Karachi leveled by Mirza against the party. “It has been proven now that the MQM are behind the killings of Pashtuns in Karachi,” the ANP leader said. Regarding the minibus torched in Kemari, Syed said the MQM’s claim that the seven people burnt alive in the incident were Urdu-speaking was a big lie, adding that two of the killed were Fahim, and Suleman, sons ANP office bearers, the third was Yar Muhammad, who was a Punjabi-speaking while the others, Shaharyar, Sania and Ameena belonged to the Kachhi community.
“The MQM should be ashamed of political point scoring by using the incident for its gains,” he said. He said, “The ANP had revealed the realities regarding the incident to the media but that could not be aired due to some ‘technical faults’.”
“The MQM wants to blackmail the Supreme Court, the army and parliament. They want to give shelter to the real culprits of the killings in Karachi,” he said.

  1. Altaf is in trouble. The city of Karachi has been kept under his thumb by his fascist policies and organising a killing machine in the city who have been busy in blood letting from time to time with impunity. Altaf Hussain has become a Mafiosi and he thought that he would frighten the Judges who issued contempt notice on him. His remarks against the Judges were derogatory and intimidating. I am glad the Judges did not succumb to his threats. He had to back down and no pursuing legal path but who know he reverts back to his Mafiosi style language because he changes colour rapidly like a chameleon.
