Russian suspect turns out to be local’s relative

A Russian suspect arrested by Civil Lines Police during a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rally at The Mall, later turned out to be Waris Road resident Aman Ullah’s brother-in-law, police sources told Pakistan Today on Friday.
Civil Lines Police officials arrested a Russian national identified as Andre Chesnokov on suspicion. The police found maps and camera from his possession and took him under custody on the orders of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Safdar Raza Kazmi, who was suspicious of Chesnokov. SP Umer Saeed said Chesnokov, during interrogation, told police that he had come to Pakistan to meet his brother-in-law Aman Ullah, resident of Waris Road, and had stopped near the rally to confirm the address but police held him.
The Civil Lines Police immediately contacted Aman Ullah and, after receiving confirmation about Chesnokov’s identity, released him. Saeed said Chesnokov did not try to flee from the police station and any rumour in this regard was false.
