Police arrest constables involved in double-murder case

Two constables from the Nishter Colony Police were arrested by the Model Town Investigations Police on Friday on charges of kidnapping and helping in killing two men, whose bodies were found by the Model Town Police on Thursday from Kamahan Road, Nishter Colony, while the murderers were about to dispose off the bodies.
According to details, Dr Arshad, 44, and Ali Hassan, 32, residents of Sheikhupura and Chakwal respectively had a property dispute with Muhammad Saddique Mayo. Arshad and Hassan had visited the Lahore High Court on Thursday to attend proceeding of their case. As they two came out of the court, three men wearing police uniforms and riding a private car kidnapped them. Later on the same day, some locals informed Rescue 15 of seeing a few men moving two bodies on the Kamahan Road.
A heavy contingent of Model Town Police hence rushed to the site, arrested Muhammad Saddique Mayo and recovered bodies of Arshad and Hassan. The police shifted the bodies to city morgue for autopsy and amended the sections of the case already registered at the Old Anarkali Police Station regarding the abduction of the deceased men. Meanwhile, during the initial interrogation, Muhammad Saddique Mayo confessed to his crime and told police that Arshad and Hassan were proclaimed offender who had illegally grabbed his property worth millions of rupees.
He said he, along with his younger brother and three constables of the Nishter Colony Police planned to kill Arshad and Hassan. According to sources, the accused constables namely Suhail and Khaleel were relatives of Muhammad Saddique Mayo, posted at the Nister Colony Police Station. On Thursday, Suhail and Khaleel with a third unidentified police constable reached the Lahore High Court and kidnapped Rashid and Hassan.
On seeing two men trying to over power three constables, Lytton Road Police Station Muharrar Ahmed and Assistant Sub-Inspector Razzaq questioned Suhail and Khaleel, who told them that they had arrested two proclaimed offenders. Later they took the abducted men to Muhammad Saddique Mayo’s dera located on Kamahan Road near Aashiyana Housing Scheme, where the two constables, Muhammad Saddique, Saddique’s brother Yaqoob and other accomplices tortured Arshad and Hassan to death.
Sources said that the murderers packed the bodies in bags and were about to bury them inside a factory owned by Yaqoob when some locals saw them and informed the police upon which the police arrested Muhammad Saddique. Police sources said the two constables were also arrested by the Model Town Police on Thursday and later handed over to Civil Lines Investigation Police.
Sources said beside the helpers and the constables, Lytton Road police station officials would also be added to the case for showing negligence in their duties. Rashid’s brother-in-law Mohsin said the disputed land was a property of his brother-in-law and not of Muhammad Saddique Mayo.
