Locals of the Shalimar area staged a protest on Tuesday against the police for not arresting a criminal involved in killing of three brothers a day before Eid. Around 200 people gathered in front of the Lahore Press Club, demanding the police to arrest the murder as soon as possible.
Women, children and men belonging to the neighbourhood of the three victims shouted slogans against the police. “The police officials are acting sluggishly”, said one of the participants. Traffic remained blocked for almost two hours as the angry protesters demanded justice. Three brothers identified as Rasheed, Naeem and Kabir, who had recently retuned from the United Kingdom, were murdered in a brutal shootout on the Shalimar Hospital main road.
Two bike-riders stopped the car of the deceased brothers and opened fire on them. Resultantly, all three died immediately. A passer-by also received bullet-injuries and was later shifted to a nearby hospital. The perpetrator in the case, identified as Zahid, is yet to be arrested.
