The city police in various strikes apprehended 13 men for their alleged involvement in various crimes and recovered illegal arms, 47 bottles of liquor, and one kg of hashish from their possession. Following the directions of superintendent of police (SP) Faisal Bashir Memon seven people were arrested.
A team from the Nilor police station headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Asjad Altaf, sub-inspector (SI) Muhammad Akbar and assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Muhammad Arif arrested seven accused namely Touqeer Ahmed, Zeeshan Ahmed, Adeel Akbar, Azhar Mahmood, Khawar Ayub, Amir Iqbal and Qasim Rashid, said a press statement. The team managed to recover five pistols, two 12-bore guns and ammunition from the custody of those nabbed. A sub-inspector of Golra police during routine patrolling also arrested two accused and recovered one 12-bore gun and a pistol with 30 rounds from their possession.
While SHO Bharakau Chaudhry Akhtar arrested an accused named Liaquat Ali and recovered a 30-bore pistol from him. Similarly, Industrial Area police arrested a bootlegger identified as Shahbaz Gul and recovered 24 bottles of wine from him while Sabzimandi police arrested two accused namely Khurram Khursid and Bakhtiar and recovered three bottles of wine and one kg hashish from them respectively. Whereas Shahzad Town police arrested an accused Shoukat Mahmood and recovered 20 bottles of wine from him. A police spokesman said cases had been registered against the nabbed accused and further investigations were underway.
