Lahore High Court Chief Justice (CJ) Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry called on Thursday for a report by September 20 from the Kot Lakhpat Jail medical officer on a petition seeking provision of medical facilities to Sarabjit Singh, Indian terrorist convicted to death sentence for masterminding the 1990 bomb blasts that claimed 14 lives. The petition was filed by Singh through his counsel Owais Sheikh. The counsel told the court that Singh was imprisoned since the past 21 years and was suffering from a number of diseases because he was neither provided with sufficient medical facilities in the jail nor allowed to do physical exercise. He requested the court to allow medical facilities to Singh. The lawyer further pleaded that the facility to practice yoga be also provided to the petitioner. He said Singh wanted to practice yoga seven hours daily to restore his health. After hearing the arguments, the CJ sought a report from the doctor concerned by September 20 about the petitioner’s health.
