National Assembly (NA) Opposition Leader Nisar Ali Khan’s resignation as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman is hanging in the balance even after his meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday, in which he sought Nawaz’s approval for his resignation.
Well-placed sources in Raiwind said the decision had been postponed till the upcoming PML-N meeting. Nisar had earlier warned that he would step down as the committee chairman if the government continued to create hurdles in implementing its decisions. Sources said that Nisar had claimed that his party leadership wanted him to continue as the chairman but the government was not ready to implement PAC’s orders to conceal its corruption. Talking about the performance of PAC, he said the committee was required to keep a check on the government’s expenditure. “PAC recovered Rs 115 billion in the last four years, pending since the last 40 years,” he said. Nisar, still unhappy with his party leadership for disregarding his reservations against business tycoon Malik Riaz, also tried to submit his resignation as the NA opposition leader.

  1. The sooner the better! We do not want the likes of him to hold important position. His forefathers served British colonialists and his wife & children have sworn allegiance to USA.
