NA speaker urges international donors to help Badin flood victims

National Assembly (NA) Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza on Thursday urged international donors, businessmen and affluent people to come forward and help Badin flood victims.
During her visit to Zero Point, Shadi Large, Khoski and Navy Chak, Mirza said the government was fully aware of problems faced by the people and it was trying hard to address them, adding that support from the international community and other segments of society would provide relief to the victims. She said tents, clothing, food items, water and medicines should be given. She said further that the government had also been requested to provide helicopter service for airlifting stranded people.
The speaker said the victims were also at a risk of water-borne diseases, adding that LBOD was a perpetual nuisance for Badin district and the current devastation was a result of an inherent fault in its design.
