GCU, Bonn University sign research agreement

The Bonn University (BU), Germany and Government College University (GCU) Lahore have signed an agreement to carry out research in flood-hit areas through social prospective to investigate “vulnerability”, “resilience” and “coping strategies” of the average local population in the socio-cultural, political and economic context. The GCU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman and Bonn University, Germany Center for Research Development (ZEF) director signed the agreement to execute the research project titled “After the flood is before the flood: Vulnerabilities and coping capacities in flood affected communities of Punjab”, being mainly funded by DAAD-German Academic Exchange Service.
GCU ADMISSIONS: Separately, the Government College University (GCU) Lahore started admissions to the MS/MPhil programme on Thursday. The university this year is offering MS/MPhil degrees in 22 disciplines. It is also offering MS Entrepreneur, SME Management, MS Banking and MS Financial Accounting. GCU Registrar said students who had qualified GAT and had minimum 16 years of education with at least 2.5/4.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or 60 percent in MA/MSc/BA/BSc (Honors) or equivalent degree would be eligible to apply.
SUPERIOR COLLEGE AUTHORISED: The Law Ministry and other famous legal experts including SM Zafar said the Superior College was fully authorised to award MBBS degrees through the ANMC and did not require any affiliation with the University of Health Sciences (UHS). The UHS, under the dictatorship of its VC Dr Mubashar Hussain, has committed various illegal acts and an inquiry against it has been lodged.
