A disgruntled student shot dead vice-principal of Riphah University at point blank the other day. This shows how low the moral fibre in our society is. No doubt, students are induced to use guns by 24/7 coverage of firing, target killings, looting and burning incidents throughout the country. Taking into account the reports that mental health of student was questionable who had been in the university since 2002.
Once expelled from university, he was re-admitted on parents’ request. Under depression he shot at the VP. Another cause that took the life of vice principal was how the student managed to take ammunition inside university campus. These days multiple tiers of security checks are exercised at educational institution, failure to detect arms by security personnel is not understood. There is a dire need of keeping track record of students’ social activities and mental health to avoid such gory incidents.
