Anti-dengue spray completed in city

Fumigation and anti-dengue spray at the specific areas of the Federal Capital including Bhara Kau, Tarlai, Sihala and Rawat has been completed while the anti-mosquitoes spray was also underway in the urban areas. The public health eduction drive was in full swing in the rural areas where lady health workers were visiting door to door in the community for creating awareness about the preventive measures against the dengue.
A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada was briefed here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Director Administration Ch. Muhammad Ali, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmed, DHO ICT Dr. M. Azhar Khan and doctors from World Health Organization (WHO), Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) hospital, Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Polyclinic.
The Chief Commissioner Islamabad also reviewed preventive measures against dengue hazard by the District Health Department and city hospitals for protection of the people. He directed the spray teams to launch coordinated efforts and carrying out anti-mosquito spray at the specific areas in the urban and rural areas.
The Chief Commissioner stressed upon the importance of launching vigorous public health education drive for creating awareness among the community for taking requisite preventive measures against the dengue mosquitoes.
He also urged the print and electronic media to play their important role in educating the peoples and launching special drive about the preventive measures against the dengue. Tariq Mahmood Pirzada also asked the doctors for proper profiling of dengue patients for necessary preventive measures in any area as and when necessary.
Dr. Najeebullah Durrani has been appointed the focal person from Islamabad Capital Territory Administration for data collecting and co-ordination with the hospitals.
Similarly the hospitals would also appoint their own focal persons in this regard.
He directed the officials to make coordinated efforts to counter the dengue hazard and community should be mobilized to take all the requisite per-cautionary measures.
It was decided in the meeting that WHO would provide DHO ICT, pamphlets containing important information about preventive measures against dengue, for distribution in the educational institutions, madarss through Federal Directorate of Education, district population welfare office and union councils .
