Unidentified miscreants fired three projectiles at the house of former Adezi Nazim in Mattni area in the outskirts of Peshawar, missed their target and destroyed an electric transformer and a police check post.
Sources said electric supply was suspended after the attack, adding that local police and armed peace lashkar promptly retaliated and forced the militants to escape and no loss of life was reported.
Meanwhile Peshawar City Police arrested 35 persons including proclaimed offenders from Chamkani and Mathra area and seized sophisticated weapon from their possession during a search operation on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip off, police raided various suspected hideouts in Chamkani and Mathra. During a crackdown police flagged a motorcycle rider identified Tariq son of Ayub Jan resident of Sir Derai in Darmangai area of Mathra down and recovered large number of weapons and ammunition including five hand grenades, one AK-47 riffle, 70 303 bore round cartridges, 11 cartridges of 212 bore and five cartridges of 7.62 mm from his possession.
Police also arrested 35 other offenders in Chamkani and seized sophisticated weapons from their possession. The weapons include three Kalashnikovs, 17 pistols and 19 bottles of liquor.
