Foundation for Museum of Modern Art (FOMMA) Trust and Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will launch a book ‘Making Waves: Contemporary Art in Pakistan” by Salwat Ali here on September 8. ‘Making Waves’, a compilation of published art reviews, examines recent art trends and the defining ideas behind them. A new art history is in the making and this volume concentrates on its progression by evaluating art and artists in the light of what they are exhibiting, who is responding to their art and why.
Speakers at the event will dwell on these themes. A multimedia presentation of the paintings will allow the audience to interpret themselves these important art works.
The event will be held at National Gallery of Arts while leading art critics will speak on the occasion. Meanwhile, PNCA has planned a musical evening with special persons here on September 9 under its programme Baithak. The event will showcase the skills of disabled vocalists including Rafia Bano, Alam Rasheed, Noman Mirza, Shehzad Alam, Furqan Ahmed, M Qadir and Mirza M Abbass. The singers will mesmerize the audience of twin cities in an effort to support the disabled community and provide entertainment opportunities to music lovers. By holding this programme, the PNCA wants to acknowledge the skills of the musicians and support the special persons to make their name in music.
