A PCB committee tasked to search suitable coach for the national team will meet on Thursday as some of its members are busy in their personal engagements. The committee was to meet on Tuesday but they could not assemble and now the formal meeting of the committee will be held at Lahore on Thursday (tomorrow).
The PCB appointed a three member committee for hiring a new coach following the resignation of Waqar Younis. Waqar submitted his resignation to the PCB prior to his departure for Zimbabwe tour citing health reasons. The committee is headed by former captain, manager and coach Intikhab Alam and includes former captain Zaheer Abbas and former wicketkeeper batsman Col (R) Naushad Ali as its member.
Former captain Ramiz Raja has consented to assist the committee in selection of the coach both from within and outside Pakistan.
The name of coaches from South Africa, Australia and England are on the list but strong candidate is tipped to be Aaqib Javed who knows the Pakistan team well by now. Former captain Ramiz Raja has been assigned the task of contacting foreign coaches in this regard. Dave Whatmore, Miky Arther and Peter Mores are also being tipped among the potential shortlisted foreign coaches.
