Robust designs:
During the ceremony, as the O3b networks chief executive officer (CEO), Steve Collar, talked about O3b’s unique service solution and how it was going to have a positive impact on the region in many aspects.
Lower-orbit operations:
Asked how the joint venture could perform while some other companies had failed to deliver satellite services in the past, Steve Collar admitted that some companies had failed as they were operating in the lower orbits while they also had to pay a heavy cost for being in the lower orbits. “We are operating in medium orbit where the cost is minimum and the services are good. Moreover, we are fully funded as compared to previous companies. Let me assure you that Google, HSBC, Liberty Global and other major investors are funding us and we have enough funds to launch, maintain and serve in Pakistan for at least ten years,” he remarked.
Introduction of new technologies:
Addressing the event, Ali Raza Bhutta, Managing Director Pak Datacom Ltd, gave an overview of the company’s achievement in the recent years. He also elaborated on how PDL is playing an integral role in the overall improvement of data communication industry and introduction of new technologies. Ali Akhtar Bajwa, COO Pak Datacom, elaborated the importance of PDL & O3b agreement and explained how necessary it was to have this unique solution available in a region that has terrain limitations that prevent the deployment of reliable, cost effective fiber optic and backhaul networks.
