A smartly turned out contingent of cadets from Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Academy, Risalpur took over guard duties at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in commemoration of his visit to the academy 64 years ago.
Besides hoisting the national flag, 91 male and seven female cadets of the PAF Academy replaced the guards of Pakistan Navy at the Mazar-e-Quaid.
PAF Academy Risalpur Air Officer Commanding Air Vice-Marshal Hassan Raza, as the chief guest, inspected the guard of honour and laid a floral wreath while also offering Fateha at the mausoleum. He also recorded his impression in the visitors’ book.
The impressive change-of-guards ceremony was witnessed by a large number of students from various schools and colleges, civil and military bureaucrats and people from different sections of the society.
The day started with special prayers and Quran Khawani for the martyrs of the 1965 war with India. The day was observed with a renewed pledge and determination to make the Air Force even stronger and a potent force to face any challenge.
The Defence Day of Pakistan is marked every year on September 6 to pay tribute to the martyred soldiers and ‘Ghazis’, who successfully defended their motherland in the 1965 Indo-Pak war.
