The judicial magistrate (East), Muhammad Afzal refused to grant physical remand in police custody of alleged terrorists Kamran Madhuri and Sohail Commando on Tuesday and directed the law enforcers to present the accused before the anti-terrorism court (ATC).
The Zaman Town police brought the two men – allegedly involved in the Chakra Goth police van attack – before the court amid tight security on the Supreme Court’s directives.
The judicial magistrate refused to grant physical remand of the suspects due to the terrorism charges against them.
On the next day of the Chakra Goth incident, in which four police commandos had lost their lives and more than twenty persons seriously injured, police authorities officially announced the involvement and arrest of Kamran Madhuri, Sohail Commando and Abu Bashar Bangali in wounded condition.
An FIR was lodged on the behalf of the state however the names of the arrested men were not mentioned. Bangali was nominated by a private complainant Ashiq Chandio, a resident of Chakra Goth, in another deadly attack in which two persons were killed and dozens suffered injuries.
