A car bomb followed by a suicide attack targeting security forces killed 25 people and wounded at least 55 others in Quetta on Wednesday, police said.
“First a car bomb exploded outside the residence of DIG Frontier Corps, then a suicide bomber entered inside the house and blew himself up,” senior police official Hamid Shakil said, referring to the corps’ deputy inspector general.
“At least 25 people have been killed and 55 were wounded, the death toll may still rise,” he said, adding that the deputy chief had been injured and his wife was killed in the attack, while two children were also among the dead.
He said that seven troops from the Frontier Corps including an army officer had also been killed.
At least five cars including two vehicles of security forces and four buildings were damaged.
