SC moved over Mirza’s allegations against Malik

Senior Supreme Court lawyer Tariq Asad on Monday filed an application with the capital police to register an FIR against Interior Minister Rehman Malik following Dr Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations of the minister committing criminal offences of murders and a conspiracy for disintegrating Pakistan. The application was filed with the Secretariat police station. Asad said in his application that Mirza called Malik a compulsive and incorrigible liar and claimed he was hand in glove with the killers in Karachi.
He said Malik had no stakes in the country, as his family lived in England. Mirza said he did not consider Malik the killer of Benazir Bhutto, but he (Malik) had failed to protect Benazir as a PPP Jiyala. Quoting Mirza, the lawyer said he accused Malik of trying to free the killers of police commandos recently killed in Karachi. One Kamran Madhuri, who was involved in the ambush on a police commando vehicle, had been arrested in an injured condition with two other accomplices.Malik had fabricated a false case against Madhuri and others and wanted to move them to Islamabad under the pretext of investigations, but in reality wanted to facilitate their release or escape from there.
He said Mirza had accused Malik of supporting Altaf Hussain to protect his own interests. The lawyer said Mirza also claimed that Malik was providing shelter to the MQM and their party leader, Altaf Hussain. Asad said following the charges levelled by Mirza, an FIR should be registered against Rehman Malik for committing the offences of murders and conspiracy to disintegrate Pakistan.
