Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Ijaz Chaudhry has said that if police powers remained with the paramilitary forces then criminals would not be able to raise their heads in Karachi, a private TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Addressing a news conference at the Rangers Headquarters, he said that powers should remain with the Rangers for an extended time. If the Rangers were given authority earlier then criminals would not have escaped, he said.
The Rangers director general said that the target killing had temporarily stopped in Karachi but would resume if authority was taken from the paramilitary forces.
