Pakistan is the land of brave people who have always sacrificed and fully struggled for the security and protection of their homeland, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said in a message issued on the eve of Defence Day. Shah paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the 1965 war, in which the Pakistan Army had defended their homeland against Indian aggression.
The chief minister said that the present wave of terrorism and violence has disturbed the peace of Karachi, but the provincial government, in coordination with the federal government and law enforcement agencies (LEAs), is striving hard to control the disrupting peace in the city. He said that it is the prime duty of the government, LEAs, non-governmental organisations and civil society to work jointly for the defence of the country. He also said that the provincial government has made adequate arrangements to tackle the current situation and is providing relief, healthcare, shelter and other facilities to the rain-affected people. He appealed to philanthropists and other citizens to come forward and help the flood-affected people in various districts of the province.
