Lahore District and Sessions Judge Mujahid Mustaqeem on Tuesday bounded the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to present the prosecutor on September 17 and argue on the application filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Moonis Elahi for his acquittal in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam. On Tuesday, FIA moved an application seeking adjournment in hearing of the NICL scam for appointment of a new prosecutor to contest the case. Opposing the application, Moonis’ counsels Rai Bashir Ahmed and Malik Amjad Pervaiz argued that the FIA was not only wasting the court’s time but creating hurdles in the fair trial of the NICL scam by filing baseless applications. The counsels argued that earlier FIA had sought adjournment on the previous date for completion of the investigation and now it had filed a new application seeking adjournment for appointment of a new prosecutor. This application was a clear contempt of court as on the previous hearing, the court had given time to FIA for completion of investigation while FIA in a new application had not mentioned a single word regarding the investigation of the scam.
