Dacoit gang busted, Rs 1m seized

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the capital police on Monday busted a gang of dacoits and arrested five outlaws. The police also recovered Rs one million from them, said a police spokesman. The gang was involved in snatching an oil tanker from its driver at gunpoint on IJ Principal Road.
The police obtained physical remand of the accused from a court for further investigations. According to details, the oil tanker, owned by Muhammad Khan, a resident of Attock, was being driven by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. It was snatched by five unidentified criminals from the driver on IJ Principal Road at gunpoint. The culprits pumped out oil from the tanker, left it in Attock at Haji Shah More and sold the fuel for Rs one million.
Following a complaint from the owner of the tanker, a case was registered by the Sabzi Mandi police under Section 395 of PPC. SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik, later, transferred the case to the CIA Police on Aug 30 on the request of the complainant. The CIA in charge Bashir Ahmad Noon along with Tariq Rauf and Zafar Iqbal ASIs traced the culprits and arrested them. They have been identified as Asif Iqbal, Sajid Mahmood, Shahzad and Aamir Saeed of Rawalpindi and Matloob Hussain of Attock.
