Two accused, who had been arrested by the Naulakha Police a few days ago, confessed to killing Amanullah, 7, son of Karamat Ali, resident of Pathi Ground Naulakha, after kidnapping him on August 6.
The accused took him to Kasur on August 6, where they killed him. A case was registered against unidentified people on August 7. Naulakha SHO Atif Miraj said police arrested Rafaqat and Shabbir from Shadbagh Area, after which Karamat Ali had suspected their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of his missing son. The accused confessed to the crime during police interrogation, giving details of how they had committed the nefarious crime and where they threw the body of the victim, Miraj said.
The SHO added that the families of both accused had fled. Miraj said the Kasur Police recovered the body of the deceased on August 7 and laid him to rest as an unidentified person. Police have been contacted and details about the case were being collected, he said adding that police would hand over the body after the legal requirements were fulfilled. But Naulakha Police Investigation Incharge and Investigation Officer Inspector Mohammad Arshad expressed complete ignorance about the confessional statement of the accused. “I do not know if the missing child had been murdered or not,” he said. He added that it was a rumour and police would investigate it thoroughly. Miraj refused to comment on the ignorance of Arshad regarding these key elements of the case.
