A vessel, MV Hyderabad, carrying 35,000 metric tonnes of imported urea arrived at the Gawadar deep seaport on Monday. The shipment is part of the urea imports being carried out by the state-grain importer, Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP). According to a TCP statement, the ship has started discharging the cargo whereas two more vessels namely, MV “Siam Topaz” and MV “Warnow Merker” are scheduled to arrive at Gawadar Port on the 7th and 8th of this month, respectively. The two vessels would each bring 25,000 MT of urea.
The present shipment arrived by MV “Hyderabad” relates to the urea imported from M/s. Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) under the Saudi Fund for Development, in addition to 50,000 MT urea, already supplied by them during July, 2011, under the same arrangements. The urea carried by MV “Siam Topaz” and MV “Warnow Merker” is in response to the TCP’s second import tender awarded to M/s. Transammonia AG, Switzerland and M/s. Key Trade Ag, Switzerland. M/s. National Fertiliser Marketing Limited (NFML) would be transporting the imported urea from the port for subsequent sale to the farmers.
