Pakistan and China agreed on increasing regional cooperation to ensure peace, harmony and equitable development in the region during a meeting between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee International Department Minister Wang Jiarui on Monday. Both leaders emphasised on carrying the Pak-China friendship to new heights in the future.
Jiarui invited the PPP leadership to China to increase interaction between the parties. He recalled his meeting with Bilawal in 2008 and with Benazir Bhutto earlier and welcomed the PPP’s third generation to tie bonds of friendship with their Chinese counterparts. Later, the PPP chairman met Jose De Venecia who is the Founding Chairman and Co-Chairman of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and was the former speaker of the House of Representatives of Philippines.
The PPP chairman appreciated the idea of holding the conference which allowed the PPP and CPC to better understand each others’ political and cultural values. Bilawal was leading a PPP delegation in the Conference on Development and People’s Access taking place in China from September 4-6. The delegation comprised PPP Secretary General Jahangir Bader, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Masood Kausar, PPP Secretary General Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Special Assistant to PPP Chairman Hasham Riaz Shaikh. The conference was arranged by the CPC under the auspices of ICAPP. Ambassador Masood Khan and members of the PPP delegation also attended the meeting.
