Pakistan’s destroyers sitting in Islamabad, says Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan was being destroyed and responsible people for the current problems were sitting in Islamabad, a private TV channel reported on Sunday. Addressing a ceremony held to inspect model houses constructed under the Aashiyana Housing Scheme in Faisalabad, Shahbaz said the scheme was a realisation of dreams of Jinnah and Iqbal. “2800 houses will be built in Faisalabad and will be handed over to the needy before winters,” he said.
The chief minister said the houses would be allotted to people with earnings less than Rs 20,000 per month. He said bureaucrats would not be allowed to reside in any of the houses constructed under the Aashiyana House Schemes. Following successful completion of this scheme and transparent allotment of residences in Punjab’s eight districts, he said this scheme would be expanded throughout the province.
The chief minister also visited Abdullah Pur Chowk and said a team of experts from Lahore would visit the chowk. He proposed construction of an underpass at Abdullah Pur Chowk to resolve traffic problems in the city. He said the underpass at Kalma Chowk had been completed in four and a half months, adding that Abdullah Pur underpass would also be constructed with similar speed to provide early relief to people of Faisalabad.
Shahbaz also said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would continue its struggle to mitigate sufferings of people by evolving pro-poor policies. He said loot had become a common practice and it was a pity that influential people were involved in large scale plundering. He said he would not allow these forces to destroy the country.
Talking about the welfare-oriented policies of PML-N, the chief minister said he was focusing on facilitating the poor and low-income socioeconomic groups. He said a majority of the people who had offered sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan were living in a poor environment.
