Grave allegations

I am a student of Karachi University. The accusations made by the former Senior Minister Zulfiqar Mirza in his extraordinary outburst on Sunday have put a big question mark against MQM and Rehman Malik. However, his allegations demand the closest of scrutiny.
To what extend does the truth lie in his claims of foreign interference in Karachi? Where does the army stand? What about the allegation against the integrity of Rehman Malik, his fellow party member? How is it that no action is being taken against Mr Mirza even though PPP considers his behaviour to be “an unacceptable violation of party’s discipline”?
Moreover, MQM also seems to be too quiet about the whole issue and hasn’t shown any serious retaliation. The question here is “why not”?
But on the other hand, his press conference was particularly a reaction to the Lyari operation only and he didn’t consider operations in other parts of Karachi to be important.
One would consider that to be too irrational for someone who wants to make peace in the city. The murkiness of power politics blinds the actual picture to be shown to the public. Whatsoever, the story needs to be told in its entirety including possibly Mr Mirza’s own role in the turf war and on-going violence in the city.
An immediate and precise conclusion should be drawn for Karachi’s future. If what has been revealed in the press conference is true, then we are facing the ugliest form of party politics and it will not lead us anywhere. The law and order situation is continuously deteriorating and all political stakeholders need to get together on a common platform to save Karachi.
