Compulsory Chinese language courses from class 6 would be introduced in all educational institutions of the province from the year 2013 as per the Sindh government’s decision. A meeting presided over by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was held on Sunday at the Chief Minister’s House to discuss the issue.
Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq, President’s Secretary General Salman Farooqui, Education Secretary Siddiq Memon, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Atta Mohammed Panhwar, the chairman of the Board of Governors Cadet College Petaro and its principal were among those present at the meeting.
They discussed in detail the introduction of other international languages as well. It was observed that bilateral trade relations between China and Pakistan are growing with each passing day which necessitates promotion of Chinese language in the country.
It was decided that students would be given incentives like foreign scholarships to attract them to participate actively in the Chinese system of language and education.
Moreover, regulations for curriculum and other issues in this regard will be resolved on priority basis while the policy would be approved by the Bureau of Curriculum.
