No complacency or negligence will be tolerated in the ongoing relief efforts for rain-affected people, Senior Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq warned the officials concerned on Sunday. Talking to journalists prior to his departure for Dadu, he said that different districts of the province, including Dadu have been severely affected by the rains. “The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government is making out all efforts to assist the rain-hit people,” he added.
The minister said that efforts are under way for timely assistance of the rain-hit people with due consideration that no negligence is allowed on part of the administration. Responding to a question, he said Dadu is one of the most affected districts as the residents of the area have not only been rendered homeless but also had their standing crops completely damaged.
“A plan is already being implemented to drain out water from inundated lands under my direct supervision,” said Haq. He said that the provincial government is fully conscious of public needs and while ensuring provision for tents and dry food items for the rain-hit people, efforts are being made for an appropriate relief package for Dadu and other affected districts.
“In fact, I had come to Karachi to attend an important provincial cabinet meeting about the reassessment of losses caused due to rains and a review of the the relief strategy,” said the minister. He informed the media that all departments concerned have been put on high alert so as to minimise public sufferings. Haq urged politicians and activists of all political parties to understand their responsibilities and help the PPP government in its disaster management activities.

  1. Look who is speaking. He has woken up from sleep. Perhaps the elections are nearing.
Hope he takes effective measures to help flood and rain affected familites.
