Citizens witness a rainless monsoon Sunday

Citizens witnessed a hot and humid Sunday with mercury touching 35 degrees Celsius in Lahore. The Met Office said fairly widespread thunderstorms and heavy to very heavy rains were expected at isolated places in Sindh, South Punjab, North Punjab, Northeast Balochistan, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday (today). Met Office Director General Arif Mehmood said the monsoon season would continue till the end of this month. Rain with thunderstorm occurred in the different parts of the country on Sunday. Around 63 millimetres of rain was recorded in Mir Pur Khas, 26mm in Hyderabad, 20mm in Kotli, 18mm in Nawabshah, 17mm in Badin, 12mm in Quetta and Mitthi, 11mm in Chhor and Balakot, 9mm in Jhang, 7mm in Kakul, 5mm in Parachinar and 4mm of rain was recorded in Murree, Islamabad and Zhob. Though the people celebrated this Sunday as part of the Eid holidays but hide and seek between clouds and sun did not let too many people get out from their homes for recreation. The relative humidity in Lahore was recorded at 79 percent in the morning and 62 percent in the evening.
