5 killed in clash between groups in Karachi

At least five people were killed and seven others injured in an armed clash between two religious groups in Godhra area here on
Sunday night.
According to police, in Muslim Colony, Godhra area of New Karachi, two religious groups traded fire after a scuffle.
As a result five people, belonging to both groups and identified as Sohail Ayub 22, Abdul Ismail 35, Noor Muhammad 26, Muhammad Yousaf 40, and Ayub Majeed 56, were killed on the spot while seven others, including a woman, sustained wounds.
The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal requirements.
Aerial firing was also witnessed in the area creating panic among the dwellers. All the trade centres and shops were closed after the firing.
Heavy contingent of police and Rangers cordoned off the area after the incident and launched search operation during which several suspects were taken into custody.
A case has also been registered into the incident and investigations were in progress.
