Senior PPP leader Senator Mir Lashkari Raisani on Friday urged the superior judiciary to investigate the “revelations” made by former Sindh home minister Zulfiqar Mirza about Interior Minister Rehman Malik and the leadership of the MQM and their alleged role in disintegrating Pakistan.
“I have heard that the judiciary in Pakistan has been freed. The 180 million Pakistanis have attached hopes with the independent judiciary. Let us see when our judges take notice of the revelations made by Zulfiqar Mirza against conspiracies being hatched against Pakistan,” said Raisani, who is the younger brother of Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani, while talking to Pakistan Today.
Referring to the allegations leveled by Mirza, Raisani said the three successive press conferences held by him had left many questions which needed to be answered. “Allegations of such enormity and of such a serious nature cannot be ignored. Neither can they be termed personal. No Muslim can even imagine telling a lie while having the holy Quran on his head. Rather, these are of national significance. Now the state, the government and the establishment are also liable to answer these queries,” he asserted.
He said with Pakistan becoming nuclear, international powers had started conspiracies against it “and if an important treasury member makes some revelations on oath, they should be taken very seriously”.
Without naming the militant uprising in Balochistan, Raisani said this it was time to act against those who were hatching conspiracies against the state of Pakistan, so that a strong message could be sent to the enemy.
“This is a responsibility of the superior judiciary now to probe these allegations and if anyone is found guilty, he/she must be tried under article 6 of the constitution. This is more important than taking notice against price hike and sugar scarcity. If Pakistan remains intact, suo motu can be taken against skyrocketing prices,” the PPP leader said, adding that the action under treason charges should be taken irrespective of political or government affiliations.
