CJP constitutes only one bench at SC’s principal seat

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday constituted a single bench at the Supreme Court’s principal seat in Islamabad for hearing cases next week. The two-member bench comprised Justice Nasirul Mulk and Justice Tariq Parvez. Besides the missing persons’ case, the bench would hear other cases including habeas corpus petitions, contempt matters, allotment of land by Capital Development Authority (CDA) to the Gun and Country Club and illegal construction on agro farm houses.
Another two-member bench comprising Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Jawwad Khawaja would be hearing cases of various natures at SC’s branch registry in Lahore. A five-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ghulam Rabbani would hear a suo motu case on the unrest and incidents of targeted killings in Karachi along with various other cases at the Supreme Court’s branch registry Karachi during the next week. According to cause lists, no application for adjournment through fax will be placed before the court.
