Hot weather prevails in city

Hot weather was witnessed in Lahore on Friday, as the mercury touched 37 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 24 degrees Celsius. Torrential rains hit different parts of the country, especially most parts of Sindh on Friday. The Met Office warned that more widespread heavy rains could hit Sindh, including Karachi, Southern Punjab and Eastern Balochistan during the next three days from Saturday to Monday. Heavy rains could generate more flooding in Sindh and flash flooding in DG Khan and at a number of places in Balochistan during the next three days.
The Met Office informed that the current spell of monsoon rains would continue for another four days and scattered rain with thundershowers were also expected in rest of the country, including Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) during the period. Various areas of the country were inundated due to flash floods, as hundreds of villages of Badin were submerged due to accumulated rain water. Around 100 millimetres of rain was recorded in Padidan, 88 millimetres in Kalat, 71 millimetres in Nawabshah, 50 millimetres in Mirpur Khas, 45 millimetres in Rahim Yar Khan, 57 millimetres in Mithi, 30 millimetres in Khanpur, 25 millimetres in Hyderabad, 27 millimetres in Lower Dir, 41 millimetres in Moenjodaro and Pattan, 31 millimetres in Kalam, 13 millimetres in Badin, 25 millimetres in Hunza, 22 millimetres in Parachinar, 41 millimetres in Malamjabba, 16 millimetres in Sukkar, 15 millimetres in Dir, 14 millimetres in Mangla and Sialkot, 13 millimetres in Saidu Sharif and Chakwal, 12 millimetres in Peshawar and Rohri, 11 millimetres in Larkana and 10 millimetres rain was recorded in Garridupatta and Barkhan on Friday.
