10 abducted children released: Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that kidnappers have freed ten children out of thirty who were abducted from Bajaur and shifted to Afghanistan adding that he has talked to Afghan interior minister about the immediate release of the remaining abducted innocent children.
Thirty Pakistani children, who had gone for picnic to celebrate Eid and had mistakenly crossed into Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province, had been taken hostage by militants.
Rehman Malik, talking to journalists, after during his visit to Central jail Karachi, said the government was in contact with Afghan government to secure the release of innocent children.
He visited jail of women, gave Eidis to them, distributed sweets and said that minor prisoners would be given some relief.
He said indiscriminate action would be taken against the miscreants and terrorists across the board in light of the directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
He also appealed to the media to provide leads about the criminal elements and cooperate with the authorities. He said Karachi was a mega city and crimes could occur here but these incidents should not be portrayed in a wrong way.
On a question about Zulfikhar Mirza, he said ‘no comments’ and added, “We want to give our next generation the message of peace, not hatred.
