Strict security cover has been ensured for major cities of the country on the occasion of Eidul Fitr to avoid any untoward incident particularly during Eid prayers. Reports from various parts of the country said police had set up additional pickets while security teams in civilian dresses had been deployed at Eidgahs and mosques where major Eid congregations would be held. CCTV cameras had also been installed in mosques and Eidgahs while a special cell had been set at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad to monitor the security situation. The sources in the Interior Ministry said Islamabad had been placed on high security alert on the occasion of Eid. Additional police had been deployed on all roads and important buildings in the capital. Police patrolling had also been increased and the checking system at all the entry and exit points of the capital had been strengthened. Sources said leaves and weekly off-days of all police personnel had been cancelled and security enhanced on all roads leading to mosques and imambargahs.
